Do we need a Wedding Planner?
"I knew when I hired you that I would appreciate your assistance in planning my daughter's wedding. Looking back on her wedding day, I know now that your expertise and management skills were critical to the day's success! I could NEVER have accomplished all that you did, and I would have made myself crazy trying!" MB, October 2004
As this quote illustrates, families often underestimate the complexities of planning a wedding.
|
 |
- It takes alot of time, usually during business hours. In fact, many refer to their wedding planning as their "second job"!
- It also requires impeccable note taking and attention to detail, as well as the ability to hold people accountable to their obligations. ( If you can do both of these well, you are in the minority! Please call us - we have a job for you! )
- Planning the perfect wedding requires creativity, superb organizational skills, and calm, concise communications. As wedding day approaches, staying calm becomes more and more challenging.
|
 |
- It will be important that you know how to finesse those details that just don't seem to be "coming together". This requires patience, both with people and with circumstance. It all translates into needing even MORE time to resolve issues as they arise.
- The pressure of meeting a variety of budgets and deadlines, the differing opinions about cake flavors and other "important" elements, and the desire to make the entire experience perfect can all cause friction within the family. You will need to have pressure valves in place to avoid major eruptions!
|
 |
- Finally, who will manage the people and the details, moment by moment, on your wedding day?
Ensuring a smooth day from start to finish (roughly 10 to 14 hours) requires persistence and STAMINA!
Constant monitoring and the ability to make adjustments quickly yet quietly will be the key to success.
Make no mistake ~ this will be a JOB for someone ~ maybe you!
Is this a responsibility that you want for yourself or your family on YOUR wedding day?

"We can't afford to hire a Wedding Planner."
Our reply is to ask you, "How can you afford NOT to?"- The average cost of a wedding and reception for 100 people is $24,000.
Why would you plan such an important (and expensive) event, and not hire a professional planner to ensure that your day is the absolute BEST that it can be?

Selecting a Wedding Planner
Good questions to ask when interviewing Wedding Consultants are:
- Do you have a business license and insurance?
- How many years of professional training and work experience do you have?
- Do you attend educational seminars, staying up to date with the industry trends?
- Which professional organizations do you belong to?
- Do you have references from businesses as well as from past clients?
- How much do you charge, and what exactly does that include?
- Do you provide a contract?
- Why should I hire you over your competition?
- What is your area of expertise, or your specialty?
- Do you limit my vendor selection? Will you work with the vendors of MY choosing?
- How many events do you work on per year?
- How many events will you have the same week as mine? The same day?
- Who exactly will I work with? Will I be passed to anyone else?
BEWARE of any wedding provider who claims to be a "Full Service Wedding Consultant, Planner or Coordinator", but is also representing another core business. These people are responsible for representing their primary businesses, and therefore cannot represent you as well. Just as you would not put the team coach on the field to play a key position, you should not trust that a wedding vendor with a key responsibility can also plan and coordinate your entire event.
Your Wedding Consultant should be "independent" of any other business. He or She should be available to work exclusively on your behalf, providing expert advice and support relating to every aspect of your wedding and reception.
Your Wedding Consultant is also the "team coach", and should be able to lead a diverse team of wedding professionals toward the common goal of meeting and exceeding your expectations.
Hire a professionally trained and experienced Wedding Consultant who will represent YOU without any conflict of interest.
